A Heartfelt Thanksgiving: Reflections on Growth and Gratitude

As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s a special time to reflect on the past year and all that we have to be grateful for—both personally and professionally. This year has been filled with new milestones, meaningful challenges, and moments of joy that I’m deeply thankful for. Here are a few reflections on the journey, and the incredible people and experiences that made it all possible.

Personal and Professional Milestones: Finding Balance and Making an Impact

This year, I reached a deeply personal milestone: figuring out a system that lets me balance my work with quality time for my 20-month-old daughter. As any working parent knows, finding that balance can be a challenge, and I’m grateful for the newfound rhythm that allows me to be present in both my roles.

Professionally, I’m incredibly proud of the impact Step2Growth has made. Through our partnerships with the SBDC , Founder Institute, and local Chamber of Commerce, we’ve supported over 200 businesses this year. Each business we work with has its unique story and vision, and being part of their growth journey has been a true privilege.

Overcoming Challenges and Gaining Focus

One of the biggest challenges I faced this year was managing time effectively. With so much to balance, I had to learn to become more focused and intentional with my time. I’m grateful for this lesson, as it’s helped me become more productive and has set a stronger foundation for growth in the future.

Support Systems: The Pillars of My Journey

I wouldn’t have made it through this year without the unwavering support of my family—my husband, daughter, brother, and parents. They’ve been my rock, providing encouragement, love, and stability in both my personal and professional life. I’m also deeply grateful for my friend and mentor, Jim Chappell, who has guided me in my journey as both a mother and an entrepreneur. His insights have been invaluable in helping me navigate the ups and downs of this year.

In addition, connecting with my local community and the Dublin Chamber of Commerce has been incredibly rewarding. Working with businesses in my local area has added another layer of meaning to my work, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support them in a tangible, impactful way.

Lessons Learned: Education as Empowerment

This year, a particular experience gave me a new perspective on the importance of education for business owners. While working with a small business as their marketing advisor, I discovered they were paying over $2,000 monthly to a marketing agency for email marketing and lead generation—yet they couldn’t tell me what kind of results they were getting, or even basic metrics like open rates or conversion data.

It was a powerful reminder of how, without the right knowledge, business owners can be taken advantage of in an industry that should be helping them grow. This realization has inspired my focus for the coming year: creating solutions that educate business owners so they can make informed decisions and avoid being misled. It’s my mission to provide accessible and affordable marketing knowledge to help small businesses succeed with confidence.

Moments of Joy: Celebrating Small Wins and Community Connections

This year was also filled with joyful moments. We launched our first-ever paid workshop, which was a great success! Seeing it come together and positively impact attendees was truly rewarding. Additionally, joining the Dublin Chamber of Commerce has been an inspiring experience. Being part of this community and contributing to local business success has brought a new level of fulfillment to my work.

Looking Ahead: Supporting Local and Small Businesses in New Ways

As I look forward to the coming year, I’m excited and grateful for the new ways I’ll be able to support local and small businesses. My focus will be on creating affordable solutions that equip business owners with the knowledge and tools they need to make informed marketing decisions. I’m energized by the opportunity to make a difference in this way and am eager to see the positive impact these initiatives will bring.

In Closing

Thanksgiving is a reminder of the importance of reflection and gratitude. I’m grateful for the challenges that led to growth, the support systems that kept me strong, and the rewarding work that has filled my year. To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you for your support, inspiration, and trust.

Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude, joy, and abundance!
